Hampshire said goodbye to one overseas players at New Road as they lost their first match of the Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.

But they also said hello to a Durban-born Scotland international who has been handed a chance to make his Hampshire stay an extended one.

Brandon McMullen's links with the Dubai Capitals - a franchise owned by GMR - in the ILT20 is an illustration of the advantages now being handed to the county through the links of its Indian owners.

He will now be available for Hampshire for the rest of the campaign.
