If Liam Dawson doesn't play we don't win this game of cricket but I would loved to have seen Jonny Bairstow in the Yorkshire side

Liam Dawson and Scott Currie shone in the Scarborough sun - and showers - as Hampshire made it through to the final of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

But the pairs' appearance in the knockout stages wasn't greeted with universal acceptance, with some asking if rules needed to be introduced to prevent players in the Hundred from returning to their counties and playing in the business end of the competition.

Nick Gubbins, the Hampshire skipper, guided his team into the final against Worcestershire and says he can see both sides of the argument.

But he also believes that he made the right call in whistling up two players who, ultimately, turned the game in Hampshire's favour in North Yorkshire.
