The last 24 hours have been as extraordinary as any in the history of Hampshire cricket.

When the news broke that the county had recruited Scott Kuggelijn for the final four matches of the Division One season, the reaction was immediate. And visceral.

In 2015, Kuggeleijn was charged with sexual violation by rape and indecent assault.

The charges involved two separate complainants.
