Nick Gubbins will turn 32 this winter but he has enjoyed Hampshire's teenage kicks as much as anyone else this summer.

The former Middlesex man has captained a team that at various points this summer has included four player under the age of 20, as Eddie Jack, Manny Lumsden, Dom Kelly and Ben Mayes have all been given an opportunity in a Metro Bank One Day Cup that Gubbins believes can fast track the development of the county's new Fab Four.

And there's a growing sense that this group could form a golden generation of Hampshire cricketers not seen since Chris Wood, James Vince and Liam Dawson emerged from the Hampshire academy.

"When you speak to Vince, Daws and Woody, they had these experiences when they were younger," says Gubbins.
