There have been times in the past 12 months when Keith Barker has felt as though his life has been on hold.

He tells The Hawk he has visited some dark places during a period that, at regular junctures, looked almost certain to end his career.

Barker was handed a year long ban, after returning an adverse analytical finding for the drug indapamide, which is used to treat hypertension.

That positive-out-of-competition test, administered by UK Anti-Doping (UKAD), was just the start of a process that has caused Barker to seriously question cricket's approach to drug testing.
