There are certain moments that can help shape a young cricketer’s career.

For Manny Lumsden, a T20 clash with Surrey earlier this month, could prove to be one of them.

The 17-year-old was entrusted with the final over of a high scoring match, with stand-in skipper Chris Wood, throwing him the ball with the hosts needing 22 to pull off a last-ditch heist in the fading London sunshine.

“As soon as we got to the middle of the 18th over, I realised I hadn't been told I was bowling the next over,” says Lumsden.
