Richard Madley first made his name on the BBC'S Bargain Hunt programme, but in India he's famed as the man who turned the IPL auction into sporting theatre. And, as the Hundred auction gets underway, Madley tells the Hawk that he has an unlikely relationship with a former Hampshire favourite.

In India, Richard Madley is known as the ‘Hammer Man’- the auctioneer who guided the Indian Premier League through its first cricket fire sale back in 2008.

Here in the UK, he’s widely recognised for his role on the BBC’s Bargain Hunt.

To a former Hampshire stalwart, though, he’s just the bloke who brings his boots into Chippenham to be repaired and then stays behind to talk about cricket.

"I do have a very well-established link with Hampshire," Madley tells The Hawk. "It actually comes through a former Hampshire player, David Turner.
