Hampshire's Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign has been handed a blow with the news that Joe Weatherley has been signed by the Birmingham Phoenix.

The 29-year-old batter, who shone for the county at Finals Day, is now heading back to Edgbaston as the injury replacement for England's Jacob Bethell.

The deal, which was completed on Wednesday before Thursday's announcement, will see Weatherley join up with the squad before their season opener against the Trent Rockets on Friday night.
