Winter can feel long and dark, but it’s actually a brilliant chance to get ahead.

When there are no games and maybe no nets until January, I see it as my window to really work on my physical side – gym work, running, speed and power.

You don’t need fancy facilities: bodyweight strength, sprint drills and simple conditioning sessions can all make you stronger, faster and more resilient for the summer.

It’s also a great time to sit down and honestly look at your game.
