It was a decision that caused more than a few raised-eyebrows at the Utilita Bowl on a sun-drenched evening on the south coast.

But could it ultimately be one that is identified as the turning point in Hampshire's season?

Up until around 8.30 on Friday night, very few of the calls made by new coach Russell Domingo since his arrival had had the desired impact.

But after the wicket of Toby Albert - who followed soon after the dismissal of captain James Vince and Joe Weatherley to leave Hampshire 35 for 3 in pursuit of Surrey's 174 - Liam Dawson, rather than Tristan Stubbs was promoted to make the most of the remaining Powerplay.
