Hampshire were in desperate need of runs throughout the 2025 County Championship season.

So it's no surprise to hear that the county were targeting some of the country's leading batters throughout the summer.

But ultimately, they fell short in their attempts to bring in fresh blood - and only escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth after a scarcely credible end to the campaign.

The Hawk understands Hampshire attempted to sign three players who were originally out of contract at the end of 2025.
