When The Hawk caught up with Kyle Abbott before today's play, Hampshire's talisman was hopeful of a relaxing day in the dressing room, putting his feet up and watching the likes of Toby Albert and Ben Brown build a handsome lead over the visitors.
Surrey had other ideas.
Both Hampshire batters were back in the pavilion within the first over and Abbott himself was out, caught and bowled by the excellent Ralphie Albert shortly before lunch.
