Hampshire are currently locked in negotiations to secure an overseas batter for their remaining three County Championship matches in September.

But whatever happens, the man in question will play in their critical fixture against Sussex at Hove, which begins on Monday 8 September - just three days after their Vitality T20 quarter-final against Durham at the Riverside, Chester-le-Street.

The Hawk understands that an agreement has been struck for a familiar south coast face to play in both that T20 last eight tie and also the Championship fixture against a side that sit just two points behind Adi Birrell's men in the Division One table.

Hampshire have had to be nimble in the overseas market in 2025, with injuries and international call-ups severely disrupting their plans.
