Ben Mayes has signed a deal that will keep him at Hampshire until at least the end of the 2027 season.

And he has a big August in front of him as the county begin their Metro One Day Cup campaign.

The Hawk understands that Mayes will be given plenty of opportunities in the 50 over competition as the Hawks look to give the 17-year-old gradual exposure to first team cricket.

The Totton and Eling Cricket Club starlet put pen to paper on Saturday morning following a successful summer that has seen him play two Under-19 Test matches and an ODI series against an Indian side that included IPL prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
