Hampshire know that anything less than a resounding win at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire is almost certain to spell the end of their 12 year stay in Division One.
Their defeat to Warwickshire at the Utilita Bowl has left Russell Domingo's side marooned at the foot of the table - a distant 32 points off safety.
Leicestershire are currently 25 points clear of them in ninth place.
Yorkshire, Essex, Surrey and Glamorgan remain just about in reach.
