Gubbins hails youngsters - and targets top spot

Gubbins is the man of the moment as Hampshire's young side continue to wow in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Nick Gubbins is targeting a home semi-final and top spot in the group after Hampshire swept aside Surrey in a nine wicket win at the Oval.

Speaking exclusively to The Hawk after leading Hampshire's victory charge with an unbeaten 87 - taking his run tally in the competition to 412 and his tournament average to 137 - Gubbins believes the sky is the limit for this young side.

But he thinks it will still take something special for the county to make it into the last four.

"You obviously want to qualify, but if you can, you want to try and get top spot which means a home semi," he says. "So I think that's got to be the target now with three games to go.
