You would have to delve deep into the history books to find four hours to match the rollercoaster of emotions experienced by Hampshire's supporters, players and backroom staff on Saturday.

When James Fuller was dismissed, with Hampshire within a tantalising 20 runs of salvaging their Division One status against Surrey all hope appeared to be lost.
