Injuries to the big hitters in Australia's bowling attack initially looked to have handed England an Ashes boost.
As it is, the injury woes of Pat Cummins, Sean Abbott, and Josh Hazlewood have left Hampshire hamstrung at the start of a season that had looked to be looming serenely.
Michael Neser was only called up to the Australia squad as a replacement for Hazlewood on the eve of the first Test of the series in Perth.
