"That was last week, you park it—this is another game," says Nick Gubbins from the Hampshire team bus after a hugely entertaining opening day of this Division One clash against Yorkshire.
Gubbins was instrumental in guiding the side through a tough morning session and then enjoyed a ringside seat as Sonny Baker swung the game firmly in Hampshire's direction under the lights in Leeds.Baker took three wickets in an over, including those of Ben Coad and James Wharton with consecutive balls, as Hampshire finished the day on a high.
It was a sharp contrast to the low of losing heavily to Essex on the opening weekend of the season."Last week Essex got on top of us, they rode that momentum and we never really got into the game, with ball or with bat," he says.
"In cricket, it's really important to stay as level as possible."Fortunately, we had a game come round quite quickly and we're trying to put things right.
