Hampshire coach Adi Birrell will leave the club at the end of the season to spend more time with his family on his farm back home in South Africa.
The Hawk understands that his decision to leave the Utilita was made as far back as last summer, giving Hampshire plenty of opportunity to develop a succession plan.
The former Eastern Province leg-spinner had arrived on the south coast in March 2019, having been named as the replacement for the outgoing Craig White the previous December.
Now, after seven years in the job, he is leaving the Utilita Bowl having guided Hampshire to Finals Day success in 2022 and a highest County Championship finish in 19 years last season.
