Durham's supporters had filed into the Riverside in expectant mood.
By the time the first Powerplay was over, though, they were probably wishing they had made alternative Friday night plans.
Toby Albert had been one of the standout players during the tournament's group stage, scoring 472 runs as Hampshire made it through to the knockout stages of the competition after making life as difficult as possible for themselves at times.
Despite playing very little cricket in August, it didn't take long for him to re-find his form. He smashed 68 off 37 balls in an opening stand of 112 off just 58 balls with Chris Lynn.
