"There's no Shortage of Talent - the Young Guys Just Need to Kick on" - McKenzie on Hampshire

Neil McKenzie won three trophies in four years with Hampshire and has continued to maintain close links with the county, coaching the likes of Joe Weatherley, Tom Prest and Toby Albert in South Africa last winter.

It may have been 13 years since Neil McKenzie last walked out at the Utilita Bowl as a player, but Hampshire still feels like a home from home for a firm former favourite at the county.

Speaking to the Hawk from his home in South Africa, it's clear there's clearly still a considerable amount of affection for the county he first joined as a player on a Kolpak deal in 2010.

Now working as a specialist batting coach, McKenzie knows this Hampshire top order as well as anyone, having welcomed the likes of Joe Weatherley, Toby Albert, Felix Organ and Tom Prest to a batting camp in Cape Town in early 2026.
