The new Michael Holding? Hampshire's Metro One Day Cup bolter on a speedy rise

I always feel I can bowl a ball that will take a wicket every ball, no matter the conditions, which I might not be able to do if I bowled 5mph slower.  Dave Vokes / Hampshire Cricket

Manny Lumsden may only be 16 but he is already being compared to one of the greatest fastest bowlers in history.

Michael Holding was known as Whispering Death for his silent approach to the wicket, followed by an ability to deliver an Exocet as fast as any in history.

Lumsden's pace isn't quite there yet, but he was clocked at over 87mph in this summer's Metro Bank One Day Cup. Not bad for a teenager who only completed his GCSEs in June.

This is a kid who loves to bowl quick - and a cricketer who has seen his development fast-tracked in a memorable summer in Hampshire colours.
