James Vince sits back in his seat in the atrium of the pavilion that has been a home from home for him since he first broke into the Hampshire team while still a teenager.

He's in relaxed mood, the mind freed from the pressure of County Championship captaincy, the body with only T20 cricket miles in its legs, rather the slog of a 14 match four-day season.

"It's been good to be back," he says. "Living in a hotel is probably the only down side but I've spent a bit of time with my parents, played a bit of golf and it has barely rained. The weather has been pretty incredible actually.

"I've got to see Liam Dawson play another Test match too!"
